Les Feldick Bible Study

What does someone need to be saved by in order to be called a Christian according to Les?

A person must be saved according to the Gospel of the grace of God—trusting that Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended. Scripture first called Gentile believers at Antioch Christians, and Jewish believers under covenant promises were not called Christians, so salvation by that grace gospel is required.

Les teaches that the Word of God never refers to the Jewish believers centered in Jerusalem as Christians. He points out that Acts 11 says the Gentile believers at Antioch were first called Christians. He refuses to call Jewish believers Christians because they were Jewish believers under the covenant promises, like John the Baptist's followers and those saved on Pentecost. Les explains that you cannot call a person a Christian who has not been saved according to the Gospel of the grace of God—that Christ died for our sins, rose from the dead, and ascended. He notes that even the best theologians ignore this distinction and mix it up.
