Why didn't Jesus heal the lame man at the Beautiful gate even though He passed him for three years?
The sovereign God does everything with a purpose. The Lord passed the lame man for three years without healing him because the timing served a divine purpose, just as Jesus deliberately delayed responding to Lazarus so Lazarus would die and then be raised.
Les explains that the lame man had been carried from his mother's womb and laid daily at the temple gate called Beautiful to ask alms. The Lord Himself must have passed that same begging gentleman off and on for three years, yet He did not heal him. Les says the sovereign God does everything with a purpose. He illustrates this with Lazarus: when Lazarus was sick and Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus, Jesus purposely delayed responding so that Lazarus would die, then He could go back and raise him from the dead.
