Why did Jesus never heal the lame man at the temple gate?
Jesus did not heal the temple-gate beggar because He was reserving that healing for Peter and John. As sovereign God, He knew beforehand that their later passing would prompt the miracle and precipitate another whole group of events. The man had been lame from birth and was forty years old when healed.
Les explains that the man had been lame from his mother's womb and was carried daily to the temple gate called Beautiful to beg. He was forty years old when the miracle of healing was shown. Les asks why Jesus, who must have walked past him time and time again, did not heal him. The answer is that Jesus was leaving all that for this later event. As sovereign God, everything is known before it; Jesus never healed the lame man because He knew Peter and John would pass by, and this would precipitate another whole group of events. The man, seeing Peter and John about to enter the temple, asked an alms.
