Why didn't Jesus heal the lame man before Acts 3?

Jesus purposely bypassed the lame man so that Peter and John could precipitate the series of events that would unfold in Acts 3. The man had been lame from his mother’s womb and was already forty years old, showing that everything is done for a purpose and to teach us.

Les explains that Jesus had purposely bypassed this lame man because he had been lame from his mother’s womb and was already forty years old. The reason was so that Peter and John could precipitate the series of events that would unfold in Acts chapter 3. Les also points out that everything is done for a purpose, to teach us something even today. He compares this to Lazarus, where Jesus delayed going back so that Lazarus would die and the account would serve a purpose.
