What kind of people is God looking for?
God is looking for men and women who have experienced genuine salvation and the indwelling Holy Spirit, not those who merely identify as Sunday-go-to-meeting Christians. Such believers are sealed by the Holy Spirit of promise, who is the down payment of their inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, the whole person—body, soul, and spirit.
Les explains that God is not looking for people who say, “Leave me alone, I’m a Sunday go-to-meeting Christian.” Instead, He is looking for men and women who have experienced a genuine salvation and the indwelling Holy Spirit. Because they have the Spirit, they do not need the law to tell them what to do and what not to do. Les then points to Ephesians: believers have been sealed or branded with the Holy Spirit of promise, and that indwelling Holy Spirit is the down payment of their inheritance, holding them until the redemption of the purchased possession. The purchased possession is not just the soul but the whole person—body, soul, and spirit.
