What does God look for in a person?
God looks for faith in a person—a trusting belief that accepts what He has said as true and responds, yes, God has said it, and I believe it. Scripture declares the just shall live by faith, not by rituals or religious do's and don'ts, but by faith alone.
Les explains that faith tells us this is the way it really is because this is what God has said, and that is exactly what God is looking for. He is looking for your faith—believing it and telling Him, yes God, You have said it, and I believe it. Les ties this to Romans 1:17, 'the just shall live by faith,' and notes Martin Luther's great Reformation realization: not the rituals he had been inundated with, not the do's and don'ts of religion, but faith, and faith alone. Les then points to Romans 4 and Abraham, who lived by faith.
