Where does the river in Ezekiel 47 begin and end?

Ezekiel 47 describes a waterway beginning at the throne room in Jerusalem, flowing from the temple, issuing out toward the east country, then down through the desert into the Dead Sea. Its waters heal the Dead Sea, so that fish and living creatures thrive wherever the river comes.

Les explains that Ezekiel 47 gives the prophet a vision of a waterway that will run out from the throne room in Jerusalem all the way to the Dead Sea. Quoting Ezekiel 47:8, he notes that these waters issue out from Jerusalem toward the east country, go down into the desert, and go down into the sea—the Dead Sea. He identifies it as the Dead Sea because its putrid waters, filled with salt and minerals, are healed. Verse 9 says nothing can live in it, but everything that lives and moves will live wherever the river comes, and there will be a great multitude of fish because these purifying waters come from the temple in Jerusalem.
