What will the stone cut without hands do to the Gentile kingdoms?
The stone cut without hands will come and destroy all the residue of those previous Gentile kingdoms. Daniel’s vision identifies this stone as Christ at His second coming, and afterward the stone will fill the whole earth. Thus the Gentile empires are brought to an end.
Les explains that Daniel chapter 2 records Nebuchadnezzar’s dream of a great image—head of gold, chest of silver, belly of brass, legs of iron, and feet of iron and clay mixed—which depicted all the great Gentile empires coming down through history. In verse 35, the stone not cut with hands comes and destroys all the residue of those previous Gentile kingdoms, and then it fills the whole earth. Les reminds us that Christ is always the stone and the rock of Scripture, so this is Christ in His second coming, as verses 44 and 45 describe the stone cut out of the mountain without hands.
Then was the iron, the clay, the brass, the silver, and the gold, broken to pieces together, and became like the chaff of the summer threshingfloors; and the wind carried them away, that no place was found for them: and the stone that smote the image became a great mountain, and filled the whole earth.
