When could Israel have repented and recognized Jesus in John's Gospel?

Israel could have repented and recognized Jesus during the early signs in John’s Gospel—specifically through the first three or four signs before His crucifixion. At that point the nation still had a flicker of hope and could have received the King and Kingdom. By the Lazarus account, their rejection became evident.

Les explains that the first seven signs in John’s Gospel were directed at the nation of Israel and occurred before His crucifixion. During the early signs—when Israel was without joy, sick, and impotent—the nation still had a flicker of hope to recognize the Messiah. Les says they could have had the King and the Kingdom if they had believed Him; God made a valid offer. All through the first three or four signs, Israel was still in a position to repent, recognize who He was, and experience the fruition of all the promises. But by the account of Lazarus, it became evident they would not accept Him.
