What would Christ have done if Israel had repented?
Had every Jew repented and been baptized, Christ would have ushered in the tribulation, lifted the curse, and brought in the kingdom. Israel then could have evangelized the nations and brought them to a knowledge of God. This was a valid offer, though God knew Israel would not do it.
Les explains that the prerequisite was that every Jew had to repent of their sin and follow it with water baptism, as in Acts 2:38. If that had happened, Christ would have ushered in the tribulation, lifted the curse, and brought in the kingdom. Israel could then have gone out and evangelized the nations and brought them to a knowledge. The offer was valid, but God knew Israel would not do it, and He would go to the Gentiles without Israel. From the crucifixion until the destruction of the temple by the Roman army was forty years, a period of testing. At the end of that forty years, Israel was still adamant in unbelief, so God permitted Rome to destroy the city and temple and sent Israel into dispersion among all the nations.
