What specific sins does the Holy Spirit keep us from wanting to do?

The Holy Spirit restrains believers from wanting to steal, speak falsely, covet, and commit immoral doings. He keeps them from all such things the Law forbade, accomplishing what the Law could not. This internal power, not license, marks those indwelt by the Godhead in this age.

Les explains from Romans 8:11 that Paul reveals something not seen in the Gospels, not even John: when a person becomes a child of God, the Godhead in the person of the Holy Spirit raises them from deadness in sin and indwells them. Because of that indwelling presence, believers no longer need the Law. Les stresses that being not under the Law is not license to steal; it is quite the opposite. The Holy Spirit's power keeps believers from the things the Law demanded they not do—something the Law itself could not accomplish. Specifically, He keeps them from wanting to steal, speak falsely, covet, and engage in immoral doings; He keeps them from all these things.
