Will the Holy Spirit ever lead a believer to sin?

No, the Holy Spirit will never lead a believer to sin. Walking in the Spirit’s power and control means you will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. The Spirit will never tell a believer to steal, commit adultery, or gossip, because under His control the old Adamic nature’s desires do not come to the fore.

Les explains that walking in the Spirit means walking in the power and control of the Holy Spirit, and when the Holy Spirit is operating, a believer will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh. The Holy Spirit will never tell a believer to go and steal, commit adultery, or gossip. When the Holy Spirit is in control, those things that still lurk in the background of the old Adamic nature will not come to the fore. Paul speaks of the flesh as the old Adamic nature, which lusts or desires against the Spirit.
