What is the one church that Scripture knows?
Scripture recognizes only one church, described as the composite of true, born-again believers. They are members of the Body, entered not by water baptism but by the baptism of the Holy Spirit. This one body includes Jew and Gentile, bond and free, all made to drink into one Spirit.
Les explains that although America alone has thousands of denominations and cults, Scripture only knows of one church. That one church is the composite of true, born again believers, and they are members of the Body. How do they get there? By the baptism of the Holy Spirit, not by water. This applies whether Jew or Gentile, bond or free, because all have been made to drink into that one Spirit. Les also notes that language like this is not found in the Gospels.
