Why doesn't the universe explode into nuclear fission?
The universe does not explode into nuclear fission because God the Son holds all things together. Scripture teaches that by Him all things consist, meaning they are held together. He controls every particle by the power of His Word, preventing planets from splitting one another into tremendous energy and explosion.
Les explains that Christ is before all things, created all things, and by Him all things consist—held together. The same Son who created heaven and earth, visible and invisible, thrones, dominions, principalities, even Satan and every power, continually sustains creation. Les asks why the universe does not just explode in nuclear fission, or why the planets do not act like an atom and split one another into tremendous energy and explosion. His answer is that God the Son controls every particle of it with His Word, with the power of His Word. Les adds that he thinks someday they will, but not tonight because Christ presently holds it together.
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.
