Why did the rulers of this world crucify the Lord of glory?
The rulers of this world crucified the Lord of glory because they did not know the hidden wisdom of God, which was ordained before the world. Had they known it, Scripture declares, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
Les teaches from 1 Corinthians 2:7–8 that Paul speaks of the wisdom of God in a mystery, the hidden wisdom God ordained before the world unto our glory. None of the princes of this world knew this wisdom. Had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. Their crucifixion of Him therefore stemmed from ignorance of God's hidden, now-revealed wisdom, which Paul says was made known to him.
Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
