Why did Dick Wyman ask Les to teach the home Bible study?
Dick Wyman was returning to the mission field after furlough and did not want to drop the home Bible study he had started with two couples. He asked the farmer to take his place, teaching those four people once a week as he had been doing.
Les explains that Dick Wyman, a missionary with New Tribes, had begun a home Bible study with two couples while home on furlough in 1970. When his furlough ended and he was ready to return to the field, he did not want to drop them. He drove out to the farm where Les was farming and asked if Les would go in once a week and teach those four people as he had been doing in the home. Les notes he had never done anything like that before; he had taught his Sunday school kids, and that was it, so he went and asked his own pastor.
