Les Feldick Bible Study

Why can our high priest be touched with the feeling of our infirmities?

The high priest can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities because He has already gone through every category of temptation that we face. He was in all points tempted like as we are, but whereas we fall, He did not; therefore He can be touched by our human weaknesses.

Les teaches that verse 15 states we have not a high priest who cannot be touched. Taking it out of the negative and putting it in the positive, we have a high priest who can be touched with the feeling of our infirmities. He was in all points tempted like as we are, but whereas we fall, He did not. Les explains that this is because He has already gone through every category of temptation that we are tempted with. Les then points to I Corinthians 10:13, where Paul writes that no temptation has taken you but such as is common to man, so no one can say they are in a unique position; Christ Himself has been.

Hebrews 4:15

For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin.
