Why did Jesus start his ministry with a miracle and end with the resurrection?
Jesus began His ministry with a miracle and ended with the resurrection to prove to the nation of Israel that He was the fulfillment of the covenant promises. These things authenticated Him as the promised Christ, the Mighty God and Prince of Peace, whose government and reign would have no end.
Les teaches that Jesus started His ministry with a miracle and ended it with the greatest miracle of all, the resurrection, when He rose from the dead. Les explains that all of these things were to prove to the nation of Israel that He was the fulfillment of the covenant promises. He connects this to Isaiah's prophecy of the Wonderful, the Consular, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace, the Christ, and of the increase of His government and reign there being no end. In Matthew 5:17, Jesus says He did not come to destroy the law or the prophets but to fulfill them—all these covenant promises. Les notes that Israel had already become a nation and was already in the promised land, but this kingdom, government, rule, and reign had not yet happened. Jesus came to bring in that kingdom and government and rule and reign for which He had been prepared.
