How long will Jesus reign over the house of Jacob?
According to the angel's announcement to Mary, the Son to be born will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end. This everlasting reign rests on God's promises to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and on the throne of David.
Les teaches that the angel told Mary not to fear because she had found favor with God. She would conceive, bring forth a son, and call His name Jesus. This Son would be great, called the Son of the Highest, and the Lord God would give Him the throne of His father David. The angel declared that He shall reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there shall be no end. Les emphasizes that this kingdom is why he constantly talks about the kingdom—the Bible does. This promise is based on what God had promised Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, with further ramifications through the law given to Moses and the promise to David that out of him would come a genealogy leading to the king. All of this is coming into fulfillment, and Les notes that these things must be repeated so they soak in.
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
