Les Feldick Bible Study

How long will Christ reign and rule, and what is He reigning until?

Christ will reign and rule during the thousand years of His Kingdom rule, and He must reign until all enemies are put under His feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death, which entered when Adam sinned. His reign continues until everything has finally been defeated.

Les teaches from 1 Corinthians 15 that Paul is continuing this line of thinking: Christ is going to be all in all, He is King of Kings, and He will reign and rule until everything has finally been defeated, even death itself, which came when Adam sinned. Les explains that Christ rules and reigns especially over the thousand-year Kingdom reign, but 1 Corinthians 15:25 says He must reign until He hath put all enemies under His feet, and the last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. Even though Christ rules and reigns, Les reminds us that the rest of the Godhead is still in the background, and we cannot cancel out God the Father and God the Spirit, because when we deal with God, we deal with that triune Spirit Godhead.

1 Corinthians 15:25

For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

More Questions

Why does Paul say Christ must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet?

Paul was led by the Spirit to write "he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet" precisely because Satan is still alive and has not yet been put away forever, so Christ's reign must continue until every enemy is subdued.

Why did Paul write that Christ must reign until all enemies are under his feet?

Paul was led by the Spirit to write "he must reign until he has put all enemies under his feet" because Satan's final removal is still future.
