What did Jesus present Himself as when He came to Israel?
During His three-year earthly ministry, Jesus presented Himself to the nation of Israel as the fulfillment of all the prophecies. He came to Israel in that role, and after they rejected and crucified Him, Peter continued that same program in Acts.
Les explains that God was dealing with His nation of Israel and preparing them for the time when they could be used to bring a Gentile to a knowledge of their God. This was all prophecy. After Israel rejected that, the book of Acts continues the same premise, and Peter strictly appeals to the Jew. For three years, as the Gospels are studied, Jesus presents Himself as the fulfillment of all these prophecies as He comes to the nation of Israel. Then they crucify Him, and Peter picks up the torch and continues that same program in Acts. Les notes this was primarily Jew only, with exceptions, until Israel continues to reject. Then comes a body of truth never before mentioned, the mysteries Paul refers to, followed by the final seven years, which is prophecy and the Second Coming.
