What happened when Israel rejected the King and the Kingdom?

When Israel rejected the King and the Kingdom, Jesus was crucified, went back to heaven, and did not immediately come after the Tribulation. Instead, He waited 2,000 years while Israel was set aside and the Church Age unfolded. This interval was not revealed in the Old Testament.

Les explains that after Israel had the King and the Kingdom, they could carry out all these promises of taking the knowledge of salvation to the Gentile. But that flies in the face of what we understand, that there would be no unbelievers going into the Kingdom. Everything changed when Israel rejected the King and the Kingdom: Jesus was crucified, went back to heaven, and did not immediately come after the Tribulation. Instead, there would now be a wait of 2,000 years while Israel has been set aside and the Church Age has been in place. Les notes this was not in the Old Testament; nothing there indicated the 1,900-some years when God is not dealing with Israel, because God had not revealed that yet. He calls this part of the secret.
