What happened as a result of Israel rejecting the king and the kingdom?

As a result, because Israel rejected the king and the kingdom in unbelief, they were dispersed out into the world. They lost their temple and their worship. God then turned to the Gentiles without using the nation of Israel. They missed their opportunity to bring the nations to God.

Les explains that Israel was called at Exodus 19 to be a kingdom of priests and a holy nation, placed under law to prepare them for that role. When the opportunity came to have the king and the kingdom and to bring all the nations of the world to a knowledge of their God, they dropped the ball and blew it. In their unbelief they rejected the king and the kingdom. Consequently, they were dispersed out into the world, lost their temple, lost their worship, and God turned to the Gentiles without using the nation of Israel. Les then draws an analogy to the 144,000 Jews, who will get a taste of what the nation as a whole missed by going to every tongue, tribe, and nation and seeing a multitude come to salvation through their ministry. They will stand before the throne and the Lamb in white robes with palms in their hands, crying salvation to God and the Lamb, and they will be martyred.
