Where did every pagan or idolatrous religion originate?
Every pagan or idolatrous religion originated at the Tower of Babel, in the plains of Shinar in Mesopotamia, during the interval between Noah and Abraham. There, under Nimrod, Satan instituted all pagan and mythological religions, and from that source idolatry spread across the then-known world before Abraham.
Les teaches that the Tower of Babel occurred roughly in the middle of the about 400-year interval between Noah and Abraham. At that time the whole human race still had one language and was basically one blood, and they met in the plains of Shinar, in Mesopotamia in the Euphrates River Valley, where they built the Tower of Babel. Les explains that it was there, under Nimrod, that Satan, the god of this world, instituted all pagan and mythological religions. He stresses that every pagan or idolatrous religion had its beginnings at the Tower of Babel. By the time of Abraham, a couple hundred years later around 2000 B.C., the whole then-known world was steeped in idolatry or mythology, such as the Venuses and Aphrodites. Out of that race saturated in idolatry and paganism, God found one man who still had a spark of faith or the ability to believe.
