When is a person connected to Christ?
A person is connected to Christ as soon as they become a child of God through faith in the Gospel. At that moment, they become a member of the Body of Christ, joined to Him. This connection begins in this earthly sojourn and includes being joint heirs with Him, with Christ as Head and believers as members of His Body.
Les explains from Romans 7:4 that believers are dead to the law by the Body of Christ, not to be forgotten but to be married to another, even to Him raised from the dead, to bring forth fruit unto God. He notes this begins in this earthly sojourn. Just as soon as we become a child of God and a member of the Body of Christ through faith in the Gospel, we are already connected to Christ. We become joint heirs with Him; He is the Head and we are members of His Body. Paul, who writes concerning the Church, makes much of Christ and His Body. Ephesians gets into deeper aspects of our position in Christ. The wedding between Christ the Lamb and the Body, the Church, follows the bema seat and occurs in heaven while the Tribulation is on earth. But the connection to Christ starts at salvation, not at the wedding.
