What did a famous physicist believe about the origin of the universe?

A famous physicist wrote that he had concluded everything originated from an original source of light in eternity past. From that source of light, the entire universe came into being. He was not necessarily an adherent of the Big Bang Theory.

Les explains that he read an article in a scientific journal quite a few years ago by a rather famous physicist. The thrust of the article was that this physicist thought that at some time in eternity past, everything had come from an original source of light, and from that source of light all of the universe came into being. Les notes the physicist was not necessarily an adherent of the Big Bang Theory. Les connects this to II Peter 3, where the heavens will pass away with a great noise and the elements will melt with fervent heat, and he says he is beginning to believe more and more that the whole universe will be totally melted down and brought right back to the very God that created it in the first place.
