Why does the universe have to be destroyed and recreated?
The universe must be destroyed and recreated because Satan has touched and polluted everything God has created. The only way to enter an absolutely pure eternity without any of Satan’s fingerprints is for the whole creation to be brought back in and recreated as new heavens and a new earth wherein righteousness dwells.
Les teaches that with God nothing is impossible: He flung the universe out with a spoken Word and can call it back at His will. Les sees this as what Peter saw—that it will all melt down and come right back to its original beginning. The reason it must be utterly redone is that Satan has touched everything God has created and polluted the whole universe. The only way into an absolutely pure eternity without Satan’s fingerprints is for it all to be brought back in and recreated. Les then points to the promise of new heavens and a new earth wherein righteousness dwells, where nothing is tainted by the wicked fingers of the evil one, and compares this with Revelation 21.
