What is the resurrection of life Jesus describes in John 5:29?

The resurrection of life is the resurrection of believers—those who have done good, meaning people of faith. Jesus describes them coming forth from the graves to life, and Revelation identifies this as the first resurrection, distinct from the lost who are raised later.

Les explains that John 5:28 says all in the graves will hear His voice, which some take to mean one single resurrection for everyone at the same time. But he insists Scripture must be compared with Scripture, and the rest of Scripture shows it is not one resurrection. In John 5:29, those who have done good—the people of faith—come forth to the resurrection of life. That is the believer’s resurrection, which Revelation calls the first resurrection. The rest of the dead, the lost, do not live again until the thousand years are finished.

John 5:29

And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
