What does Jesus' resurrection mean?

Jesus' resurrection means He died and arose from the dead, never to die again, and it was for all eternity. It is the first true resurrection, unique to Christianity, and the basis for believers' eternal life, which they receive the moment they believe the Gospel.

Les explains that this whole chapter deals with resurrection, and practically no other religion has resurrection as the very basis of its beliefs. Resurrection is unique to Christianity; at the core of everything we believe and everything the Bible teaches is this doctrine. He stresses that resurrection does not refer to someone who died and was brought back to life, like the widow's son or Lazarus, because they were merely called back from the dead and died again. Resurrection began with the Lord Jesus Himself, the first to ever be resurrected. He died and arose from the dead, never again to die, for all eternity. This same eternal life is what believers experience the moment they believe the Gospel. Thus Jesus' resurrection guarantees that this life does not end at the grave and that believers can enjoy eternal existence through a biblical resurrection.
