Why will the powers of heaven be shaken?
The powers of heaven will be shaken because God's wrath is being poured out. Scripture describes signs in the sun, moon, and stars, distress of nations, roaring seas, and men's hearts failing for fear as these cataclysmic events unfold before the Son of Man returns in a cloud with power and great glory.
Les teaches that Luke 21:25–27 gives the end-time scenario of the Second Coming, not the Rapture. Jesus is speaking to the Jew about His return, when He will stand on the Mount of Olives on the east side of Jerusalem. The powers of heaven are shaken because God's wrath is being poured out. This follows signs in the sun, moon, and stars, distress of nations with perplexity, the sea and waves roaring, and men's hearts failing for fear. Les lists the cataclysmic devastation as earthquakes, volcanoes, meteorites, famine, and floods. After all this, they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. When these things begin to come to pass, look up and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh. He stresses that the Rapture and Second Coming are two totally separate events.
Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.
