Why will there be trembling and fear according to Jeremiah 30?
According to Jeremiah 30:5, trembling and fear come because horrible events are coming on the earth, centered primarily in the Middle East and directed mainly at the children of Israel. These events belong to the tribulation, when God deals with Israel, producing anguish, paleness, and no peace.
Les explains that the tribulation is primarily God dealing with the nation of Israel, not the church. Because the church is not under Israel's covenants, those covenants will come to fruition during the tribulation, the time of God dealing with Israel. In Jeremiah 30, the voice is one of trembling and fear, not peace; men are pictured with hands on their loins like a woman in travail, faces turned pale. Les says this is because of horrible events coming on the earth, centered again in the Middle East and directed primarily to the children of Israel. He notes the potential for mass destruction, mentioning Middle Eastern nations with nuclear warheads and the involvement of Russia and America, resulting in tremendous fear and suffering beyond imagination.
For thus saith the LORD; We have heard a voice of trembling, of fear, and not of peace.
