Where will the armies of the world encamp in Israel when God gathers them?
When God gathers the world's armies to Israel, they will set up encampments on the valley floors. These low-lying, flat areas include the Jordan Valley, the Valley of Megiddo or Ezdralon, and the Plains of Sharon along the Mediterranean, because those flat valley floors are suitable for military camps.
Les explains that although Israel is predominantly mountainous, there are flat, low-lying valley areas between the mountain ranges. When God brings the armies of the world to Israel, they will naturally place their encampments on those valley floors. He particularly points to the Valley of Megiddo, also called the Valley of Ezdralon, between Mount Carmel and ancient Megiddo. That valley has been a battlefield throughout the millennia, with hundreds of battles fought there, which is why Scripture alludes to it. Les also identifies other flat areas such as the Jordan Valley, with level ground on both sides of the river, and the Plains of Sharon along the Mediterranean. He notes that God will bring the nations of the world to the Middle East.
