Les Feldick Bible Study

Why did Les say the idol worship in Revelation 9:20 is unique to the Orient?

The Orient has more idol worship today than any other place on earth. It remains under abject idolatry, with Buddha worship, Japan's Shinto idols, and Tibet and other Eastern areas practicing idolatry. That is why Revelation 9:20's mention of idols not repented is uniquely relevant to the Orient.

Les teaches that Revelation 9:20 describes men who were not killed by the plagues yet did not repent of worshiping demons and idols of gold, silver, brass, stone, and wood—idols that cannot see, hear, or walk. He says this is unique to the Orient because the Orient has more idol worship today than any other place on earth. He cites Buddha worship, Japan’s Shinto idols, and Tibet and the Eastern areas still under abject idolatry. He also notes the Orient’s vast population, including China, India, and Japan.
