Why does Les go to II Peter chapter 3 to explain Revelation 20:11?
The teacher turns to II Peter chapter 3 because Peter describes it so graphically, showing what John refers to in Revelation 20:11 — the great white throne from whose face the earth and heaven fled away, with no place found for them. Verse 10 is the starting point.
Les explains that Revelation 20:11 comes after the thousand years have been consummated. By that time the antichrist, the false prophet, and Satan are already at the lake of fire — the only three personalities that go there without first appearing before the Judge at the Great White Throne. That throne is where all the unbelievers of the ages, beginning from Genesis chapter 3 onward, are brought before Christ the Judge. Les notes there is no chance for salvation there, because He is no longer the benevolent Savior but the stern, righteous, fair, and just Judge. He always starts with Cain as the first of the lost people. Because John's words about the earth and heaven fleeing away need fuller description, Les goes back to II Peter chapter 3, jumping down to verse 10, since he thinks Peter describes it so graphically and shows what John is referring to in the Book of Revelation.
And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
