What happens when the first trumpet sounds in Revelation 8?

At the first trumpet, hail and fire mingled with blood are cast upon the earth. As a result, a third part of the trees are burned up, and all the green grass is consumed. This judgment resembles one of the plagues in Exodus.

Les explains that when the first angel sounds, hail and fire mingled with blood follow and are cast upon the earth. The calamity burns up the third part of the trees and all the green grass. He connects this to Exodus, noting that one of the plagues was the very same thing—fire running along the ground and hail—and he imagines it was traumatic. Les also says that even though these events will bring death and destruction, there will be much psychological warfare, and it will be beyond comprehension to see these things happening one right after another.

Revelation 8:7

The first angel sounded, and there followed hail and fire mingled with blood, and they were cast upon the earth: and the third part of trees was burnt up, and all green grass was burnt up.
