What should field workers do when the tribulation flight begins?
When this flight begins, field workers must not go back to retrieve their clothes or take time for anything. From wherever they are presently working, they should be ready to take off for the mountains, leaving immediately and without delay.
Les explains that in verse 18 Jesus addresses another group of people—the younger, working-class individuals still in production. The one in the field is not to return back to take his clothes, nor should he take time to do anything. Instead, from wherever he may be presently working, he is to be ready to take off for the mountains. This instruction is part of a broader scenario that includes hardship for pregnant and nursing mothers and prayer that the flight not occur in winter or on the Sabbath, when the law would limit travel.
Neither let him which is in the field return back to take his clothes.
