Why will the world be thrilled when the two witnesses are dead?
The world will be thrilled because the two witnesses caused so much turmoil by their preaching. Their deaths are viewed as an end to the turmoil their preaching caused, so the world rejoices that these two men are now dead.
Les teaches that the world is thrilled at the very thought that those two men who caused so much turmoil by their preaching are now dead. He notes that after their death they will be resurrected, brought back to life, and ascend back into heaven, and Scripture says the whole world will see it—a feat Les suggests satellite television will accomplish. This event is part of the midpoint of the tribulation. After the two witnesses are resurrected and ascended, the Antichrist will come to the temple, defile it, force the Jew to stop temple worship and worship him, triggering awful persecution for the final three and a half years. Les also points to a tremendous earthquake at the midpoint, after which Christ returns to the Mount of Olives, sets up His Kingdom, the curse is lifted, and Israel becomes the top nation, with the rest of the world coming under blessing through Abraham's covenant.
