Les Feldick Bible Study

Why will the world hate the two witnesses?

The two witnesses torment the world by pointing out its wickedness, iniquity, and the righteous judgment of God already upon it. Because their testimony exposes sin and declares God's judgment, the whole world hates them and rejoices when they are killed.

Les explains that the world will hate the two witnesses because they torment the inhabitants of the earth. Verse 10 says those who dwell on the whole planet, not just Israel or the Middle East, will rejoice over their dead bodies, make merry, and send gifts to one another because these two prophets tormented them. The torment comes by simply pointing out their wickedness, their iniquity, and the righteous judgment of God, which is already to a certain degree upon them. So the world hates them. Les also notes that the whole world sees them, today by television, and after three and a half days the Spirit of life from God enters them, they stand on their feet, and great fear falls on those who see them.

Revelation 11:10

And they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them, and make merry, and shall send gifts one to another; because these two prophets tormented them that dwelt on the earth.
