Will the false prophet in Revelation be an apostate Jew?
The false prophet of the tribulation will quite possibly be an apostate Jew. He is described as a great religious leader, not a political leader or emperor, who heads up a global religion and exercises the power of the first beast.
Les explains that the false prophet in the tribulation is quite possibly an apostate Jew. He compares this pattern to Jewish men who rose in Gentile pagan empires and to contemporary examples such as Karl Marx, top communist leaders, some in Hitler's Reich, and many American political leaders. Les stresses this is not said in derision, since they have ability and talent. He then notes the false prophet is a great religious leader, not a political leader or emperor, who heads up a global religion. According to verse 12, he exercises all the power of the first beast. Like Moses and Daniel rose next to the seat of power, this man does the same, exercising almost as much power as the political leader from verse 1. He plays the role of the Holy Spirit by pointing men to the Antichrist, the counterfeit God the Son, as the Holy Spirit points to God the Son.
