Les Feldick Bible Study

Does Les believe easy believism is biblical?

No. Easy believism—merely acknowledging that Christ lived, died, and rose—is not what the Bible teaches. Saving faith requires knowing and embracing the gospel: Christ died for our sins, was buried, and rose again according to the Scriptures. That is the gospel Paul preached and the truth by which believers are saved.

Les explains from 1 Corinthians 15 that the gospel must be known and remembered, not merely casually acknowledged. Paul declares the gospel he preached, which the Corinthians received and stood in, by which they are saved if they keep it in memory—unless they believed in vain. Les emphasizes that a person has to know what they believe. The content is specific: Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, was buried, and rose again the third day according to the Scriptures. Ephesians calls this the truth of the gospel, and 2 Thessalonians 2:10 describes those who perish because they received not the love of the truth. The love of the truth is the gospel. Therefore, Les does not ascribe to easy believism—simply saying one believes Christ lived, died, and rose—because that is not what the Bible is talking about.
