What did God promise Abraham about the coming Redeemer?
God promised Abraham that through his covenant people, the nation of Israel, the Redeemer and Messiah would come. This promise was connected to Genesis 3:15, where the seed of the woman would come to be the Redeemer of mankind, and God would prepare Israel for that role.
Les teaches that God set aside the nation of Israel to fulfill the promise of Genesis 3:15—that the seed of the woman would come to be the Redeemer of mankind. To bring that to fulfillment, God promised Abraham that through that nation of people, through those covenant people, would come this Redeemer, the Messiah. Les illustrates the word "redeem" with an athlete who redeems himself by making a crucial play, and then he explains that God began to prepare Israel for the role of being missionaries and evangelists.
