Through what people did God promise that the Messiah would come?

God promised Abraham that the Redeemer, the Messiah, would come through the nation of Israel, His covenant people. This fulfilled the promise of Genesis 3:15 concerning the seed of the woman, as God set Israel apart to bring forth the Messiah for mankind.

Les explains that God set aside the nation of Israel to fulfill the promise of Genesis 3:15, that the seed of the woman would come to be the Redeemer of mankind. To bring that to fulfillment, He promised Abraham that through that nation of people, through those covenant people, would come this Redeemer, the Messiah. God then began to prepare the nation of Israel for the role of being the missionaries and evangelists.
