How will the Antichrist initially appear to the world?

Initially, the Antichrist appears as the white horse rider: a deceptive person who comes in Christ's name, claiming to be Christ and promising everything the world wants. He deceives many while appearing attractive, before later becoming Satan's emissary. His initial presentation hides his eventual role.

Les explains that Matthew 24 describes the seven-year tribulation period, and its opening events parallel Revelation 6. The white horse there is the appearance of the Antichrist. Jesus warns in verse 5 that many will come in His name saying, “I am the Christ,” and deceive many. Les says the Antichrist will come on the scene as a deceptive person, promising everything the world wants, but he will soon become the very emissary of Satan himself. That deceptive beginning comes before the wars, rumors of wars, and nation rising against nation mentioned next.

Matthew 24:5

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.
