Why is God worthy to receive glory, honor, and power in Revelation 4?
The twenty-four elders declare God worthy to receive glory, honor, and power because He created all things. Creation did not happen by chance or evolution; everything was made by the Creator and exists for His pleasure. He is also the eternal sovereign God who lives forever and ever.
Les teaches that in verse 9 the living creatures give glory, honor, and thanks to Him who sat on the throne and lives forever and ever. Then the four and twenty elders fall down, worship Him, cast their crowns before the throne, and say, "Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory, and honor, and power." The reason given is, "Because Thou hast created all things." Les emphasizes that everything was created by the Creator, and for His pleasure they are and were created. He also notes that it was the twenty-four elders, not necessarily believers, who cast their crowns before the throne, and warns against lifting a verse out of its context.
Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.
