Does the Bible say there are many antichrists or only one Antichrist?
Scripture presents both: John writes that many other antichrists oppose the Word of God, yet he also speaks of one specific coming Antichrist, the only real Antichrist. Revelation calls this figure the beast, the same beast as Daniel's, first identified as the Roman Empire.
Les explains that John, writing in that same light, had no idea of a 2,000-year interval, so he says it is the last time and that, as they have heard, the Antichrist shall come. Les notes this is the clearest term for this man as the Antichrist. John also speaks of many other antichrists who will oppose the Word of God, but there is only one real Antichrist. Les then moves to Revelation 13, where John in his vision stood on the sand of the sea and saw a beast rise up out of the sea. Revelation is prophecy written in symbolism, and the beast there is the same beast of Daniel; first, it is the Roman Empire.
