What authority did God originally give Adam over creation?

God gave Adam dominion over creation, to rule under God, subdue the earth, and have total dominion as God's second in command. Adam was to be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth. When he sinned, he lost that dominion, and Satan picked it up.

Les teaches that in Genesis 1:28 God blessed Adam and Eve and said, "Be fruitful, multiply, replenish the earth, subdue it, and have dominion." Adam was to rule over the creation under God, holding total dominion as God's second in command. After Adam sinned, he lost that dominion; he dropped the ball, and Satan picked it up. Les connects this original grant and loss to the later question of why something must be paid off, as pictured by the scroll.
