Does modern Western civilization still have poverty and downtrodden people?
Yes. Although Western civilizations have had a semblance of human rights since the Magna Charta, they are not utopia. Many people still live in a downtrodden state, groveling in poverty and lacking this world's goods, even as the nation is blessed.
Les explains that throughout human history, unless a person belonged to the very elite ruling class, life for most people was mere existence under abject poverty, slavery, and oppression. He notes that it was not until the Magna Charta in about the 14th century that some human rights were delineated; before that, there was no such thing as human rights. Since then, Western civilizations have had at least a semblance of human rights, but Les stresses that they are not utopia. Even among Western civilizations, many are still in a downtrodden state. The nation is blessed, yet many people are groveling in poverty and have none of this world's goods.
