Les Feldick Bible Study

Does Les think Western civilization has become a utopia?

No, Western civilization has not become a utopia. Despite having a semblance of human rights since the Magna Charta, many people still live downtrodden, in poverty, and without this world's goods. The nation is blessed, but it is not a utopia.

Les explains that throughout human history, unless a person lived among the very elite ruling class, life was mostly existence under abject poverty, slavery, and oppression. He notes that it was not until the Magna Charta came out of England that some human rights were delineated, and before that there was no such thing as human rights. Since then, Western civilizations have had at least a semblance of human rights. But even among Western civilizations, many people are still living in a downtrodden state. Les states plainly, “We're not in any utopia.” He acknowledges the nation is certainly blessed, but he points out that many people are still groveling in poverty and have none of this world's goods.
