What will fishermen do at the Dead Sea in the future kingdom?
In the future kingdom, fishermen will stand on the shores of the Dead Sea from En Gedi, spreading nets. The healed waters will produce a very great multitude of fish, according to their kinds, like the fish of the Mediterranean, and everything shall live wherever the river comes.
Les explains that Ezekiel 47 is prophecy spoken in symbolism. He points to a river coming out from underneath the sanctuary in Jerusalem, just as Zechariah described. When the Kingdom is set up and Christ has returned, the fishermen will stand on the Dead Sea from En Gedi all the way to En Eglium. The Dead Sea will be healed and made alive, so that fishermen have a place to spread their nets. Their fish will be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea—the Mediterranean—very many. Les emphasizes that everything that lives and moves wherever the river comes shall live. He notes En Gedi is still a little village on the shores of the Dead Sea, and these are all physical elements of the future kingdom.
And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from Engedi even unto Eneglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, exceeding many.
