What writing style is shared by Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation?

Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation share a symbolic writing style. All three are prophetic books written by Jewish men from outside the land of Israel, and each uses symbolism—such as dry bones, sticks, fiery wheels, or a great image—that conveys literal truth and is interpreted elsewhere in Scripture.

Les explains that Daniel, Ezekiel, and Revelation are three books of prophecy written by Jewish men, but all were written outside the land of Israel. Daniel writes from Babylon while captive under Nebuchadnezzar; Ezekiel writes from captivity in Persia, from Shushan on the Tigris River; and Revelation was written by John from the Isle of Patmos in the Aegean Sea. Les says these three books are unique because they all write in symbolism. Ezekiel uses the dry bones, the sticks, and the fiery wheels. Daniel sees a great image with a head of gold and a chest that would come down through history. Revelation is also all in symbolic language, which is why many people are afraid to study it. Yet Les notes that all those symbolisms are interpreted by Scripture itself in one place or another.
